Appleton East’s LaChapell scores 30 points in FVA boys basketball loss to Kimberly

APPLETON – Kimberly pulled out to a seven-point lead by halftime and were able to hold on to defeat Appleton East 71-59 in a Fox Valley Association boys basketball game Thursday night at East High School.

The Papermakers led 31-24 at the break and outscored East by five in the second half to finish off the victory and improve to 8-4 overall and 6-3 in the FVA.

Joey LaChapell continued his hot streak for the Patriots, scoring a game-high 30 points, as East falls to 3-8 overall and 2-6 in the FVA.

Thomas Meyers had 25 points, Mikey Wildes added 12 and Bryson Vieth 11 for Kimberly.

Both teams will play conference games again on Friday as Kimberly hosts Neenah and Appleton East is at home against Fond du Lac.
