Appleton East volleyball holds off Hortonville

APPLETON – The Appleton East girls volleyball team posted its second Fox Valley Association victory of the season, downing Hortonville 3-1 on Thursday night at East High School.

The Patriots won 25-22, 25-18, 17-25, 25-17, to improve to 2-3 in the FVA. Hortonville is now 0-5.

Opal Sparkman had 38 assists and Reese Reichelt pounded down 15 kills to lead the Appleton East offense.

Sophomore Izzy Mead had a team-best 20 digs, Zoe Wockenfuss had 16 digs, eight kills and five service aces, Elizabeth Jacobs added nine kills, and Ryley Foley had 14 digs and six kills as well for the Patriots.

Appleton East will host its annual tournament on Saturday. The 14-team invite begins at 9 a.m.
