Appleton East softball tops Appleton North

APPLETON – An RBI double by Sarah Brockert in the fifth inning tied the game and a sacrifice fly from Elizabeth Jacobs brought home what proved to be the game-winner as the Appleton East softball team rallied to beat Appleton North 8-7 in a Fox Valley Association softball game Thursday at East High School.
Appleton East led 6-1 after a five-run third inning only to see North storm back with six runs in the fourth to take a 7-6 advantage.
The Patriots rallied in the fifth and Jacobs shutout Appleton North over the final three innings to finish off the win.
Broeckdert had two hits, and Torie Neubauer, Jacobs and Grace Fecteau both had two RBI for Appleton East (3-5 overall and FVA).
Alyssa Wald and Peyton Smith both finished with two hits for Appleton North (4-7, 3-6 FVA).
Appleton North will play at Kaukauna on Friday, while Appleton East returns to action Monday for a home game against Oshkosh West.
