Appleton East softball slams Appleton West

APPLETON – Appleton East scored eight times in the first inning and poured on seven more in the second as it went on to a 19-2 win over Appleton West in a Fox Valley Association softball game Thursday at the Nienhaus Sports Complex.

The Patriots (5-10, 5-8 FVA) pounded out 18 hits in the win, which ended after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

Ava Smarzinski, Reese Reichelt, Maddie Heisler, Allisyn Briggs and Sarah Broeckert each had two hits, with Reichelt and Smarzinski both driving in three runs for Appleton East.

Ali Raddatz had two hits and drove in one of the runs for Appleton West (0-16, 0-14 FVA).

Both teams will play again Friday in FVA action as Appleton West travels to Appleton North and Appleton East will be at home versus Neenah. Both games start at 4:30 p.m.
