Appleton East girls soccer opens season with pair of home wins

APPLETON – The Appleton East girls soccer team kicked off its 2024 season with a pair of victories on Saturday at Appleton East High School.

The Patriots downed Pulaski 2-1 and West Bend West 8-0 to start the year.

Marley Wreath scored off an assist from Gwen Loritz and Addison Wreath added what proved to be the game-winning goal on an assist from Lydai Kubiak for the Patriots in the win over Pulaski.

Marley Wreath scored four times, Addison Wreath added a hat trick with three goals, and Maiya Wheaton also scored a goal in the shutout win over West Bend West.

Sarah Wolf had three assists, and Marley Wreath, Lauren Mesa and Ella Mielke added assists in the victory for Appleton East.

Appleton East will open its Fox Valley Association schedule Tuesday at Fond du Lac. Game time is 7 p.m.
