Appleton East girls basketball outlasts Menomonee Falls

WALES – The Appleton East girls basketball team overcame a three-point halftime deficit to down Menomonee Falls 88-81 in a high-scoring affair at the Kettle Moraine Thanksgiving Classic on Friday.
East (3-0) outscored the Phoenix 51-41 in the second half as it made 16 of 20 free throws to finish off the victory. Ella Sweeney was 6-for-6 at the line and scored 10 of her 16 points in the second half for the Patriots.
Torie Neubauer led the Patriots with 23 points, which included three of East’s 10 3-pointers. Lindsey Gerrard added 18 points, Jenna Ott had 14 and Lilly Meulemans 12, with Ott also making three 3-pointers.
Jade Warren had a game-high 29 points for Menomonee Falls (1-1).
Appleton East plays Sun Prairie East at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Kettle Moraine High School.
