Appleton East girls basketball drops FVA opener at Kimberly

KIMBERLY – Kimberly sent the Appleton East girls basketball team to its fourth loss in a row to start the season, winning 54-45 in the Fox Valley Association opener for both teams on Tuesday night at Kimberly High School.
The Papermakers (2-0, 1-0 FVA) pulled out to a 28-18 lead by halftime.
Appleton East (0-4, 0-1 FVA) was able to play with Kimberly in the second half, outscoring the Papermakers by one point, it could not make up enough ground.
Torie Neubauer and Ella Sweeney each scored 12 points to the Patriots.
Kimbelry knocked down seven 3-pointers, including three from Ava Van Vonderen, who finished with 12 points. Haylie Dulas had a team-high 13 points, and Reagen Krueger also had 12 for the Papermakers.
Appleton East will travel to Fond du Lac for another FVA game Friday, which will start at 7:30 p.m.
