Appleton East girls basketball dominates Appleton West

APPLETON – The Appleton East girls basketball team used a dominant defensive performance to take care of rival Appleton West 71-41 in a Fox Valley Association matchup Tuesday at West High School.
The Patriots (8-3, 4-3 FVA) charged out to a 42-22 lead by halftime and held Appleton West to 19 points in the second half to finish off the victory.
Lilly Meulemans had 21 points and Ella Sweeney added 19 points for the win for Appleton East.
Jazelle Gowdy scored a team-high 20 points to lead the Terrors (2-10, 0-7 FVA), who have lost 10 straight.
Boths teams play FVA games on Friday. Appleton West will host Neenah and Appleton East will play at Oshkosh West.
