Appleton East girls basketball cruises past Fond du Lac

FOND DU LAC – The Appleton East girls basketball team used a strong defensive effort to run past Fond du Lac 69-35 in a Fox Valley Association game Friday night at Fond du Lac High School.

The Patriots led 37-22 at halftime and held Fond du Lac to just 13 points in the second half to earn the 34-point road win.

Appleton East made 12 3-pointers in the victory, five from Lilly Meulemans and four by Ella Sweeney, who finished with 26 and 20 points, respectively.

Brooklyn Butler scored 10 points to lead Fond du Lac (4-12, 1-9 FVA) and she surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her career in the game.

The Patriots (9-5, 5-4 FVA) plays at Appleton North on Monday before hosting Kaukauna on Tuesday. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.
