Appleton East cross country teams compete at De Pere Invite at UWGB

GREEN BAY – The Appleton East cross country teams finished in the middle of the pack at the 27-team De Pere Invitational on Thursday at Shorewood Cross Country Course on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
De Pere won the boys team title with 52 points, seven ahead of Hartford. Appleton East was 15th among with 353 points.
De Pere also finished first in the girls team standing with 138 points, 25 ahead of Mukwonago. Appleton East placed 12th with 313 points.
Grady Leen (15:42.5) and Chase Deshazer (16:20.2) finished 1-2 in the boys 5-kilometer race for De Pere in helping the Cardinals to the team title.
Louie Mandich led Appleton East, taking 32nd in 18:01.9. Liam Krainik finished 46th (18:30.3), Evan Rankin was 83rd (19:22.4), Holden Pool finished 102nd (19:49.9), Benjamin Stevens was 104th (19:50.1), Evan Wells was 106th (19:50.8) and Zachary Gaschler was 135th (20:35.4) as well for the Patriots.
Hannah Miller of Kewaunee won the girls race in 20:00.2, seven seconds ahead of Pulaski’s Emerson Fabry.
Rosemarie Butler led the East girls with a 33rd-place finish, running in 21:43.0.
Evie Eidemiller was 39th (22:04.1), Addison Baier took 56th (22:23.4), Molly Peterson was 89th (23:15.0), Olive Crownhart placed 111th (23:56.2), Audrey Loritz was 118th (24:12.6), MaKayla Jones was 132nd (24:32.7) and Lyla Pingel finished 146th (25:05.3) among the 194 girls runners for Appleton East.
Appleton East is back in action Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Bay Port Invitational at Southwest Park in De Pere.
