Appleton East boys soccer tops Menomonee Falls in shootout to win WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal

MENOMONEE FALLS – The ninth-seed Appleton East boys soccer team pulled out a victory in a shootout to survive in its WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal on Tuesday at No. 8 seed Menomonee Falls.
After neither team scored during regulation or in overtime, the game went to a penalty kick shootout, with the Patriots prevailing 5-4.
Jouse Ntwari nailed the game-winning penalty kick after goalkeeper Henry Benz made two saves in the shootout. Benz saved all four shots he saw in regulation and overtime.
Menomonee Falls ends its season with a 7-8-2 record.
Appleton East (12-6-2) will travel to play at No. 1 seed Brookfield East (16-0-1) in a Division 1 regional final on Saturday at 7 p.m.
