Appleton East boys soccer shuts out Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT – Jack Benz earned his first career shutout in goal for the Appleton East boys soccer team as it posted a 2-0 victory over Stevens Point in a nonconference match Saturday at the Portage County Youth Soccer Complex.
Dating back to 2010, the victory is East’s first against Stevens Point in 12 games, according to coach Justin Oshefsky.
The game was scoreless until the Patriots were able to push in a pair of goals in a three-minute span as Alexis Vera scored in the 67th minute and Max Ransom added another in the 70th minute.
Appleton East (2-1) opens its Fox Valley Association season at Fond du Lac on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
