Appleton East baseball rolls past Appleton West

APPLETON – Appleton East scored three runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back, cruising to a 15-5 win over Appleton West in a Fox Valley Association baseball game Tuesday at Nienhaus Sports Complex.
After Appleton West closed East’s lead to 9-5 with a four-run fourth, the Patriots (7-11, 6-9 FVA) scored six times in the top of the fifth and finished off the win by 10-run rule and splits the season-series with the Terrors.
Nick Verbeten and Cade Prestigiacomo each had two hits, Mason Winkler drove in two runs and scored twice, and T.J. Parker had three runs scored and two RBI in the win for Appleton East.
Dimitry Edmunds had two RBI for Appleton West (6-13, 6-9 FVA).
Both teams are back in action Thursday as West plays at Appleton North and East hosts Neenah. Both games begin at 4:30 p.m.
