Appleton East baseball picks up road win at Stevens Point

PLOVER – Rylan Winkler threw a complete-game four-hitter as the Appleton East baseball team hit the road and picked up a 6-1 nonconference win over Stevens Point on Monday at Memorial Field.
Stevens Point scored in the opening inning before Appleton East rallied, tying the game in the fifth on a single by Nick Verbeten, and taking the lead with a three-run sixth.
Winkler doubled home two runs to cap the sixth inning as the Patriots improve to 3-1 this spring.
Alex Thompson and Winkler each had two hits for East.
Appleton East will host Kimberly for a Fox Valley Association game Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
