Appleton DoubleDays Legion baseball falls in nine innings to Denmark

DENMARK – Denmark scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings and won it with a walk-off sacrifice fly in the ninth, defeating the Appleton DoubleDays 7-6 in an American Legion baseball game Thursday.
Appleton (1-1) led 6-3 after 4½ innings, but could not hold on as Denmark rallied with a run in the bottom of the fifth and scored twice in the seventh, with the help of two DoubleDays’ errors. Appleton committed six errors in the loss.
Lincoln Thede and Jackson Bines-Sabrowsky each had three hits, and Bines-Sabrowsky and Daniel Dieck both drove in a pair of runs for the DoubleDays.
Appleton returns to action Tuesday at Fond du Lac.
