Appleton Double Days Legion baseball rolls past Bay Port for seventh-straight win

SUAMICO – The Appleton Double Days Legion baseball team upped its winning streak to seven with an 8-1 rout of Bay Port on Thursday night.
Brady Kern picked up the pitching win with 4 1/3 innings of shutout relief as he struck out three without a walk.
Lincoln Thede had a sacrifice fly to plate Dawsen Burrington in the first inning and Brandon Tobak had a two-run double in the second to give Appleton (8-2) a 3-1 lead
The Double Days would add another run in the fourth thanks to a two-out error, and piled on four more in the sixth as three runs scored on two separate errors, and T.J. Parker had a sac fly.
The Double Days will play at the Appleton Post 38 Round Robin Tournament on Friday and Saturday, taking on Wisconsin Rapids at 5:30 p.m., and Post 38 will host Kaukauna at 8 p.m. Friday. The Double Days will take on Kaukauna at noon Saturday, followed by Wisconsin Rapids against Post 38 at 2:30 p.m. Kaukauna and Wisconsin Rapids will play each other at 5 p.m., with a Post 38 and the Double Days closing the tournament at 8 p.m. in the second matchup between the teams this week.
