Appleton Double Days Legion baseball holds off Wisconsin Rapids, extend winning streak to eight

APPLETON – The Appleton Double Days Legion baseball team used a four-run fifth inning to surge ahead and held off Wisconsin Rapids 7-6 in their opening game of the Appleton Post 38 Round Robin Tournament on Friday at Don Hawkins Field.
Dan Dieck had three hits, and A.J. Thompson and Jackson Bines-Sabrowsky each drove in two runs for the Double Days, who are now 9-2 after winning their eighth-straight game.
Thompson picked up the win, going six innings, and Cade Prestigiacomo earned the save with a scoreless seventh inning for Appleton.
The Double Days will play Kaukauna at noon and Appleton Post 38 at 8 p.m. on Saturday as the tournament wraps up.
