Beaver Dam outlasts Appleton East baseball

APPLETON EAST – Cade Prestigiacomo and Mason Winkler allowed just two hits on the mound for Appleton East, but Beaver Dam was able to eke out a pair of runs in the sixth inning to defeat the Patriots 3-1 in a nonconference baseball game Friday at Appleton East High School.
Appleton East scored its only run in the fifth on a groundout by Jackson Bines-Sabrowsky, tying the game at 1-1.
Beaver Dam (3-1) then scored twice without a hit, scoring on a bases-loaded walk and a squeeze bunt.
Appleton East (2-1) did not have another baserunner, striking out four times over the final two innings in suffering its first loss.
Alex Thompson had two of East’s four hits.
Appleton East will travel to Plover to take on Stevens Point for another nonconference game on Monday at 5 p.m.
