Appleton North softball loses FVA opener at Fond du Lac

FOND DU LAC – The Appleton North softball team was held to four hits and dropped its Fox Valley Association opener to Fond du Lac 3-1 on Thursday at Fond du Lac High School.
McKenna Thome hit a two-run home run in the second inning and the lead held up for the Cardinals (3-1, 2-0 FVA).
Appleton North’s lone run came on Keira Hughes’ inside-the-park home run in the top of the seventh inning.
Sophia Wald and Charlotte Radtke each pitched three innings for the Lightning (1-2, 0-1 FVA), and finished with six and strikeouts, respectively.
Appleton North will host Fox Valley Lutheran for a nonconference game Friday at 4:30 p.m.
