MARSHFIELD – Appleton North controlled the pace from the start and went on to defeat Marshfield 4-0 in a nonconference girls soccer game Tuesday at Marshfield High School.
North set the tone with a high-paced attack and broke through at the 29:47 mark on a goal by Emily Apostolou.
The Lightning tacked on another goal nine minutes later from Addison Schneider and took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Marshfield (1-3) put together a tough defensive front, holding Appleton North (3-0) down for the first 30 minutes of the second half, but the Lightning was able to add a pair of scores – from Brinley Dunsim and Claire Zulewski – in a three-minute stretch to put the game out of reach.
Appleton North will play two nonconference games at home this week, taking on West De Pere on Thursday at 7 p.m. and Fox Valley Lutheran at noon on Saturday.
