Fond du Lac rallies late to knock off Appleton East softball

APPLETON – The Appleton East softball team couldn’t hold on to a late lead and dropped a 10-8 decision to Fond du Lac in the Fox Valley Association opener for both teams on Tuesday at Appleton East High School.

The Patriots led 8-7 after a three-run fourth inning before Fond du Lac tied the game with a run in the sixth and won it with two runs in the seventh on a two-out error.

Susan Vokes hit a home run and drove in four to pace the Cardinals (2-1 overall).

Emily Jacobs had three hits and drove in two runs for East. Aubrie Erickson, Torie Neubauer and Sarah Brockert also had two RBI each for the Patriots (0-2 overall).

Appleton East will play at Oshkosh West on Thursday.
