Bines-Sabrowsky grand slam lifts Appleton East baseball over Fond du Lac

APPLETON – The Appleton East baseball team fought back from a four-run deficit to defeat Fond du Lac 8-4 in the Fox Valley Association and season opener for both teams on Tuesday at Appleton East High School.

Fond du Lac led 4-0 after a three-run third before Appleton East crept closer, putting up three runs in the bottom of the third as Cade Prestigiacomo doubled in a pair and scored on a single by Jackson Bines-Sabrowsky.

After the Patriots tied the game on an error in the fourth, Bines-Sabrowsky ripped a grand slam home run to put East in the lead. Neither team scored the rest of the way.

Rylan Winkler picked up the win for Appleton East as he struck out four in two scoreless innings of relief.

Alex Thompson had two of East’s five hits.

Appleton East will play at Oshkosh West on Thursday.
