Xavier baseball drops season-opener at Notre Dame

GREEN BAY – Drew Sludzinski hit a three-run home run as part of a five-run fourth inning for Green Bay Notre Dame defeated Xavier 7-3 in a nonconference baseball game Saturday at Notre Dame Academy.
Xavier trailed 2-1 before the five-run fourth for the Tritons put them in firm control.
The Hawks, playing their season opener, scored twice in the sixth but that would be as close as they could get.
Five Xavier pitchers toed the rubber in the game, allowing a combined six hits and eight walks.
Xavier opens its Bay Conference season Tuesday at Don Hawkins Field against Seymour. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m.
