ASHWAUBENON – Jack Schlueter drove in Mason Stark with a base hit in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Fox Valley Lutheran baseball team a 3-2 win over Wrightstown in the North Eastern Conference and overall season-opener for both teams on Saturday at Capital Credit Union Park.
The Foxes trailed 1-0 before scoring twice in the bottom of the sixth inning thanks to a pair of Wrightstown errors.
The Tigers came back to tie the game in the top of the seventh, forcing extra innings.
After 2½ scoreless frames, FVL rallied in the 10th as Stark led off with a walk, Luke Heimerl singled and Lincoln Thede was intentionally walked after a stolen base, setting up Schlueter, who knocked a single into right field to end it.
Schlueter also picked up the pitching win for the Foxes, throwing a pair of scoreless innings in relief.
Fox Valley Lutheran will host Clintonville for another NEC tilt on Tuesday.
