Seymour shuts out Appleton East softball

SEYMOUR – Seymour’s Addison Wery hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning and that was enough as the Thunder defeated Appleton East 2-0 in a nonconference softball game Friday at Seymour High School.

Wery’s homer was the only hit of the game for Seymour (2-0), as Appleton East pitchers Aubrey Heinz and Kat Swick each struck out three in three innings each.

The Patriots were held to three hits, all coming from leadoff hitter Aubrie Erickson.

Appleton East will play a nonconference game at Southern Door on Monday before opening its Fox Valley Association season Tuesday at home against Fond du Lac.
