Appleton West boys basketball surges past Wisconsin Rapids in WIAA D-1 regional quarterfinal

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Appleton West boys basketball team overcame a four-point halftime deficit with a monster second half offensively and defeated Wisconsin Rapids 67-62 in a WIAA Division 1 regional quarterfinal on Tuesday at Lincoln High School.
The Terrors trailed 25-21 at the half before putting up 46 points in the second half, including 17 from Prabhjot Tiwana, to pull away.
Appleton West finished 19-for-26 from the free throw line overall, 15-for-21 in the second half. Lucas Downs scored 11 12 of his 15 points in the second-half push as well for the Terrors.
Zak Mancl made six of Wisconsin Rapids’ 11 3-pointers, finishing with a game-high 18 points for the Raiders (3-22).
Appleton West (3-22) will travel to Fox Valley Association champion Kaukauna (21-3), the top seed in the Division 1 Sectional 1 bracket, for a regional semifinal on Friday at 7 p.m.
