Xavier girls basketball uses strong start to defeat Fox Valley Lutheran

APPLETON – The Xavier girls basketball team won its sixth game in a row, using a strong first-half push to defeat Fox Valley Lutheran 61-37 in their annual nonconference crosstown matchup Tuesday at Xavier High School.

The Hawks (13-10) rolled out to a commanding 37-18 lead by halftime and were able to maintain their big lead from there.

Brynn Krul scored 20 points and Hailey Hafner added 14 points in the win for Xavier.

Eden Last topped Fox Valley Lutheran (9-12) with 13 points.

Xavier closes out its regular-season at home against New London on Thursday, and Fox Valley Lutheran will travel to North Eastern Conference leader Marinette on Thursday for its final game. Both teams open WIAA postseason play on Feb. 28.
