Kaukauna holds off Appleton North girls basketball

APPLETON – Kaukauna ran out to a nine-point lead by halftime and were able to hold off Appleton North, winning a Fox Valley Association girls basketball game 74-66 on Tuesday at Appleton North High School.

The Lightning outscored Kaukauna (10-10, 9-7 FVA) by one point in the second half but came up short of their comeback attempt.

Avery Werfal poured in 29 points for Appleton North (8-13, 4-12 FVA) and Tay Maass added 13 points in the loss.

Addison Baumgart topped Kaukauna with 22 points.

Appleton North will wrap up its regular season with home games against Fond du Lac on Friday and Appleton East on Feb. 20.
