Appleton East girls basketball storms back in second half to top Appleton North

APPLETON – Appleton East overcame a slight halftime deficit to knock off Appleton North 55-41 in a Fox Valley Association girls basketball game Tuesday night at East High School.
North led 20-16 at halftime before the Patriots surged ahead with a 39-21 second half, and eventually a 14-point victory.
Emilia MontMarquette made four of East’s 12 3-pointers and scored 15 points, while also grabbing eight rebounds, to lead the way for the Patriots (6-6, 6-3 FVA).
Torie Neubauer added 10 points for Appleton East, which has won three games in a row.
Avery Werfal topped Appleton North (5-8, 2-7 FVA) with 17 points.
Appleton East will host first-place and undefeated Kimberly on Friday, while Appleton North travels to Neenah.
