Appleton United boys hockey pulls past Oshkosh

APPLETON – The Appleton United boys hockey team came back from an early deficit to defeat the Oshkosh Ice Hawks 3-2 in a Badgerland Conference game Tuesday night at the Appleton Family Ice Center.

Oshkosh took a 1-0 lead into the second period before Ethan Chosa and Jack Kangas netted goals for Appleton.

Gunther Kelbert tacked on an empty net goal in the final minute to push the lead to 3-1 before Oshkosh scored with 15 seconds to go in the game to provide the final margin.

Brandon Tobak finished with 21 saves in goal for Appleton, which improves to 6-9 overall and 2-3 in the Badgerland Conference.

Appleton hosts Stevens Point Pacelli for a nonconference game on Friday.
