Appleton West wrestling wins team title at North Fond du Lac tournament

NORTH FOND DU LAC – Ben Hilbert and Adbelrahman Zeineldin won individual titles to help the Appleton West wrestling team to the team title at the Dave Cohen Classic at North Fond du Lac High School on Saturday.

The Terrors finished with 199 points to outlast runner-up Kiel, which had 188 points. Appleton East placed fifth with 143.5 points and Xavier was seventh with 134 points at the 14-team tournament.

Wrestlers competed in a round-robin format.

Hilbert (14-3) won the title at 138 pounds and Zeineldin (16-3) was the champion at 175 for Appleton West.

Charlie Blevins (157) and Jevonte Johnson (285) finished as runner-ups for the Terrors.

Appleton East’s Paul Martin placed second at 120, and Ido Vang (106), Xander Schiltz (132) and Cian Bruan (190) all took third for the Patriots.

Xavier had one champion as Cristian Rodriguez-Salgado (25-5) went 5-0 to win the 106-pound title. John Faulker was second at 150 and Eddie Heuring took third at 285 for the Hawks.
