Appleton North’s Esser, Lewis win titles at Papermaker Wrestling Invitational

KIMBERLY – Appleton North had two individual boys champions and placed sixth among 17 teams at the Papermaker Wrestling Invitational to open its season Saturday at Kimberly High School.
Jason Esser won the 126-pound title with a pin of Merrill’s Broc Suchocki in 33 seconds, and Braden Lewis won at 144 with 14-2 major decision over Manitowoc’s Jackson Bongle to lead the Lightning.
In girls competition, Appleton North’s Kaylee Altieri placed second at 107 pounds, Fox Valley Lutheran’s Sophia Wunderlich was the runner-up at 138, Xavier’s Madeline Faulkner took fourth at 132, and Appleton West’s Annaleah Jacobson finished fifth at 120 to lead their respective squads.
