Appleton United boys hockey downs Manitowoc

APPLETON – The Appleton United boys hockey team scored a goal in each period to outlast Manitowoc United 3-1 in a nonconference contest Thursday at the Appleton Family Ice Center.
Gage Rowe scored just 3:57 into the game, Henry Heathman added a goal with 13 seconds left in the second period, and Jace Young netted a score 40 seconds into the third to put Appleton (3-2) up 3-0.
Manitowoc (0-2) scored late to break up the shutout.
Appleton goalie Brandon Tobak made 23 saves in the victory.
Appleton will play a Badgerland Conference game at Fond du Lac Springs on Tuesday.
