Appleton North’s LeMire finishes tied for 31st at 2024 WIAA State Girls Golf Tournament

MADISON – Appleton North senior Taylor LeMire shot a 92 on the second day of the 2024 WIAA State Girls Golf Tournament on Tuesday in windy, chilly conditions at University Ridge Golf Course.
LeMire, who shot an 80 on the opening day of the tournament on Monday, ended up in a tie for 31st place among the 78 competitors in the Division 1 field.
LeMire had a rough start to her round, shooting 8-over par on the first two holes as she started on the back nine. She recovered with pars on holes 16 and 17, birdied the first hole and had pars on 2 and 3. She finished 4-over par over the final five holes.
Payton Haugen of Brookfield East and McKenna Nelson of Beaver Dam/Wayland Academy ended up tying for the Division 1 individual championship at 6-under par 138. Haugen shot a 70 on Tuesday to make up three shots on Nelson, who shot 73. Abby Henriksen of DeForest finished third at 3-over par 147.
Milwaukee Divine Savior Holy Angels won the Division 1 team title with a two-day score of 637, 29 shots ahead of Prescott, which had won the past four Division 2 championships. Kaukauna finished seventh with a 693 and Bay Port was ninth with a 710.
Madison Edgewood won the Division 2 team title with a two-day score of 756, just four strokes ahead of runner-up Spooner. Freedom was sixth with an 865.
Belle Kongshaug of Colfax/Elk Mound won the Division 2 individual championship shooting 9-over par 153 (76-77), which was four shots better than Addison Kofal of St. Croix Central.
