Xavier baseball splits pair of games to close out Bay Conference schedule

APPLETON – The Xavier baseball team split a pair of games to end its Bay Conference season on Friday at Don Hawkins Field at American Legion Post 38.

Seymour scored four times in the top of the seventh inning to defeat Xavier 8-4 in the opener, before the Hawks rebounded with a 14-0 rout of Green Bay East/West.

The Hawks led 4-3 after scoring twice in the fifth inning against Seymour, before the Thunder tied it in the sixth and won it with the big seventh inning.

Parker Bleck had two RBI and Tyler Brightman had two hits for the Hawks, who were doomed with seven errors.

It was Green Bay East/West which had the fielding problems in the second game, committing a whopping 11 errors in just four innings.

Carter Hermus had two RBI and scored three runs, and Isaiah Des Jardins had two hits and scored twice for the Hawks (12-10, 9-9 Bay Conference).

Xavier will play its final regular-season game Monday at home against Crivitz at 4:30 p.m. The Hawks will open postseason play with a WIAA Division 2 regional quarterfinal against North Fond du Lac at Don Hawkins Field on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
