ASHWAUBENON – The Appleton East softball team played two of the top ranked teams in the state at the Ashwaubenon Invitational on Saturday and lost both in five innings via the 10-run rule.

Ashwaubenon (18-1), ranked No. 8 in this week’s Wissports.net Division 1 state coaches poll, scored 11 runs in the first three innings to cruise to the win.

Appleton East’s lone run came in the fifth when Sarah Broeckert singled and came around to score on a passed ball.
