Xavier baseball rallies late to top West De Pere

APPLETON – The Xavier baseball team earned some revenge against West De Pere, winning 5-2 on Tuesday night at Don Hawkins Field.

The Hawks scored four times in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally for the win and improve to 8-8 overall and 5-7 in the Bay Conference.

West De Pere (9-7, 7-4 Bay), which defeated Xavier on Tuesday 5-1, led 2-1 after five innings before the Hawks rallied.

Gavin Wiese and Tyler Brightman had RBI singles, and Luke Krull smashed a two-run double to give Xavier a three-run lead. Wiese worked around a single in the bottom of the seventh to finish off the win for Xavier.

Anthony Weyers finished with two doubles and scored twice, and Matthew Potter also picked up two hits for the Hawks.

Xavier will host Seymour on Thursday before playing at home again against West De Pere on Tuesday. Both games start at 6:30 p.m.
