Unbeaten Stevens Point holds off Appleton East in nonconference boys basketball

APPLETON – The Appleton East boys basketball team gave undefeated Stevens Point all it could handle but came up short in the end, losing the nonconference matchup 72-66 on Tuesday night at East High School.
Joey LaChapell had a team-high 28 points to lead the Patriots, who fall to 3-7 this season.
Appleton East made 10 3-pointers, including three each from LaChapell, Jacob Weisbach and Grayson Kasmarek.
Stevens Point, ranked third in this week’s Wissports.net Division 1 state coaches poll, is now 13-0 this season.
Appleton East returns to Fox Valley Association on Thursday at home against Kimberly. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
