Oshkosh West holds off Appleton East girls basketball

OSHKOSH – The Appleton East girls basketball team came up just short on Friday night at Oshkosh West as a shot at the buzzer missed and the Wildcats survived with a 65-63 victory in a Fox Valley Association girls basketball game at Oshkosh West High School.
Both teams came into the game tied for fourth place in the Fox Valley Association, and as expected from that, the game was back-and-forth throughout. The game was tied at 33-33 at halftime, with West pulling out the two-point win to improve to 9-4 overall and 5-3 in the FVA.
Lilly Meulemans had a team-high 22 points and Torie Neubauer added 12 points for the Patriots (8-4, 4-4 FVA).
Paige Seckar had 22 points for Oshkosh West.
Appleton East plays at Appleton North as part of a girls-boys doubleheader on Tuesday. The girls game starts at 6 p.m., with the boys to follow at approximately 7:45 p.m.
