Appleton East boys basketball uses second-half surge to top Appleton West

APPLETON – Joey LaChapell scored 14 of his game-high 26 points in the second half to help lift the Appleton East boys basketball team to a come-from-behind 63-47 victory over Appleton West in a Fox Valley Association game between crosstown rivals on Tuesday at West High School.

Appleton West, looking for its first win of the season, led 30-27 at halftime before the Patriots turned the tables.

In addition to LaChapell’s big second half, Elliot Feldhausen scored all eight of his points in the final 18 minutes to help push Appleton East over the finish line.

Cade Prestigiacomo added 14 points, and Grayson Kosmarek made three 3-pointers and chipped in 10 points for the Patriots, who snap a four-game losing streak and improves to 3-5 overall and 2-4 in the FVA.

Lucas Downs made three 3-pointers and led Appleton West (0-11, 0-6 FVA) with 13 points. Braylon Ise added nine and Kyle Bennett eight in the loss for the Terrors.

Appleton East hosts Oshkosh West and Appleton West travels to Neenah on Friday.
