APPLETON – The Appleton North girls volleyball team completed a clean sweep of the Fox Valley Association, locking up an outright conference title with a 3-0 victory over Neenah on Thursday night at North High School.

The Lightning won 25-19, 25-17, 25-13, to finish the FVA season a perfect 9-0 and claim their first conference title since 2019.

“Our girls played really well tonight against a scrappy and well-coached Neenah team,” Appleton North coach Steve Scheuerell said. “We saw a lot of positive things that we have been working on in practice.  Really great to get the FVA conference championship on Senior Night.”

Ella Demetrician continued her dominant play on the front line for Appleton North, finishing with a team-high 18 kills.

Emerson Van Lannen had 25 assists, seven digs and seven kills, Maggie Hahnke had a team-best 10 digs, and Teegan Charapata added nine kills and three service aces in the win for the Lightning.

Appleton North is the No. 1 seed in the WIAA Division 1 Sectional 2 bracket for the upcoming girls volleyball playoffs and will open postseason play with a regional final at home on Oct. 21 against the winner of the regional semifinal match on Oct. 19 between Appleton East and West De Pere.
