Fox Valley Lutheran girls volleyball wins home tournament

APPLETON – The Fox Valley Lutheran girls volleyball team won all five of its matches to claim the championship at its home Fox Valley Lutheran Invitational on Saturday.

FVL defeated Oconto 25-7, 25-14; Menasha 25-13, 25-14; and Sheboygan Christian 25-11, 25-15; in pool play before taking care of Oconto 25-6, 25-12, in the semifinals and Winnebago Lutheran 25-19, 25-10, in the championship.

Emma Nilson had 33 kills, 10 digs, seven blocks, and six service aces, Molly Bixby had 54 assists, eight aces and 17 digs, and Riley Schmitz had 52 digs, 12 assists and eight aces to lead the way for the Foxes.

Annalise Patchett added 22 kills and 11 digs, Sophia Wunderlich had 20 kills, and Ava Patchett had 35 assists, 15 digs and seven aces in Fox Valley Lutheran’s five wins.

Fox Valley Lutheran, ranked second in the latest Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association Division 2 state poll, hosts Waupaca for a North Eastern Conference matchup Tuesday at 7 p.m.
